PREPARE IN PARADISE

A place for you to prepare for the ministry.

A college with a biblical purpose

Our purpose is to fulfill the Great Commission by training young men and women to go across America and to the nations of the world to share the Gospel with the lost that they might be saved, then to teach the saved how to live for Christ, and to organize new groups of believers into new churches through church planting.  This is a highly specialized field of training that is focused on equipping individuals for full-time Gospel ministry or in some cases training individuals involved in secular work how to be more effective in their service to God.

We recognize there are many other fine fundamental institutions dedicated to the same task, and we praise God for them.  We just believe God has directed us to this exciting aspect of the great commission, and are trusting in his grace to advance his work for the glory of God.

The Four Point Plan

Develop A Personal Walk with God

The promise of the Bible is the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits Daniel 11:32; therefore, each and every student will be taught, trained, and encouraged in the personal disciplines of the Christian life such as personal Bible study and private prayer time.  There is really no substitute for this in the life of the servant of the Lord.

Emphasis on Solid Bible Training

Diligent Bible study is the compelling requirement of a bold and effective servant of God that is also pleasing to God (II Tim. 2:15).  At Hawaii Baptist College we are dedicated to helping students become very knowledgeable in  Scriptural truth and how to apply it.

Experience Practical

Ministry

At Hawaii Baptist College students will not only prepare for ministry they will actually be fully engaged in ministry.  They do not just prepare for later service; they begin to serve in the local church while studying.   Students will be taught the “ins and outs” of ministry, so that they are equipped to achieve great things for the glory of God when they launch out on their own.

Every Student Is Valued as a Servant of God

At Hawaii Baptist College we believe in recognizing that many students have dedicated themselves to God’s service, and so we will strive to practice 1Thess. 5:13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake.  We will not treat those that study here as “mere students,” but as God’s servants.  We will not look down on students as they enter these halls of learning, but rather strive to edify each one in love.

Skip Woodfin

President of Hawaii Baptist College

Both Pastor and Mrs. Woodfin are originally from West Texas.  Skip and Dana met at church as teenagers and were married at age 20 in 1984.  They attended Arlington Baptist College where Pastor Woodfin graduated in 1985.  Later he received his Masters in Theology from Landmark Baptist Seminary.  They have three children.  Their two sons are married and serving in full time pastoral ministry, and their daughter  serves in her local church on Kauai.   The Woodfins were church planting missionaries for many years in Texas, Hawaii, and Indonesia.

They were involved in missions on Oahu both in Wahiawa and Waianae from 2000 until 2008.  It was then that the Lord led them to Indonesia.  They had the challenge of learning the Indonesian language first and were involved in evangelism, church planting, and training nationals.  The Lord enabled them, with the help of Indonesian nationals, to launch two churches.  Additionally, they along with an Indonesian pastor and another American missionary launched a Bible College in Bali.

In 2011, Ko’olau Baptist Church invited Pastor Woodfin to be their Senior Pastor.  They were very excited to return to Hawaii which they have called home since 2000.  Upon coming back to Hawaii Pastor Woodfin stated, “This truly is home for us.  We love the people of Hawaii, so we are honored to be called back here, and we are filled with great enthusiasm about what God is doing through the ministry of Ko’olau Baptist Church."
